Careers

Join a pioneering startup using cutting-edge data technology to drive real-world impact on climate and infrastructure – where your code helps power the path to net zero.

Indeximate are a rapidly growing data science company exploiting the vast potential of fibre optic sensing to solving today’s critical problems. Proven sensing technology takes existing fibre optic cable and turns it into thousands of discrete temperature, strain, or acoustic sensors.

We take those massive data streams (TBs / day of data) compress it and deposit in our cloud repository, the Scattersphere to extract intelligence about the cable’s environment.

We’re using that today to attack the critical problem of premature failure of subsea power cables – tackling a key problem of net zero. We can use the same data to understand the environment, detect ships and mammals, measure wave height.

Take the same approaches to land and we can do much more.

Our future lies in democratising the cost of sensing, delivering sensing insight as a cloud based service.

  • We welcome applications from part time and full time workers. The role will involve regular low frequency travel.

Salary & Benefits

  • Competitive salary (£60,000 – £70,000 Experience Dependent)
  • Company share ownership in a fast-growing startup
  • Company life insurance policy
  • 25 days annual leave

Analyst

Indeximate occupy a leadership position in cable health monitoring – setting the direction and influencing the marketplace. We expect floating offshore wind to play a major part in the future and to have cable monitoring baked in at the outset due to the dynamic challenges. Cable Security challenges occupy a large thread of our current development. In the further future applications in telecoms and land are expected to open to our unique approach. Central to our philosophy is the democratization of sensing and multiple exploitation of raw data by delivering orthogonal measurements to diverse clients. As a product design mantra we make a deep effort to understand our markets before acting. This role will take the focus of primary market research to create the deep understanding of the value proposition of novel applications, to undertake initial customer explorations and to set the requirements for future product development for new applications.

In short, this role explores new avenues for Indeximate, justifies the economics and sets the direction for successful development and initial exploitation.

Role accountabilities

  • Undertake primary research to achieve a deep understanding of market dynamics for new applications
  • Document the cost of operations, competitive approaches, suggested value proposition and set out cost effective potential avenues for future exploitation
  • Research user needs and document GUI approaches that will lead to success in those markets
  • Support the outreach needs with thought leadership articles to be presented at conferences, exhibitions and on business media
  • Contribute to the technical development of Indeximate  / underpinnings of new applications.

Key Items of Skills and Knowledge

  • Possess a good grasp of Physics
  • Have an understanding of signal processing
  • Frameworks for new product development / new product introduction
  • Have an interest in market dynamics, market research and new product development requirements
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – suitable track record to be demonstrated
  • Comfortable with remote working
  • Comfortable with regular travel to meetings (internal and external) and conferences as required

Experience & Qualifications

  • Understanding of Physics, especially acoustics and acoustic signal propagation
  • Understanding of manipulation and processing of large datasets
  • Degree in relevant subject (Data science, Physics, computer science, Maths etc.)
  • Experience / Qualification in market research
  • UK or Five Eyes citizen, Resident in UK with permission to work.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary to £40,000 Experience Dependent
  • Company share ownership in a fast-growing startup
  • Company life insurance policy

Data Scientist

Indeximate are uplifting continuous sensing data records to the cloud from subsea fibre optic sensors. The main purpose of this data is to inform clients on the state of health and levels of risk to their sub-sea assets. This data needs to be processed, interpreted and understood to give meaningful information to clients. This role is aimed at a candidate who will use processing techniques already developed by Indeximate to obtain this information then to assemble and present reports both internally and externally. Another key part of this role is to help with the development of the algorithms used to extract useful information from the data records. This will involve trying different approaches to those already used and testing before implementation. There will also be opportunities to apply machine learning and alternative data compression techniques to maximise the potential of this approach.

Role Accountabilities

  • Process Indeximated data from commercial jobs to extract cable health metrics
  • Assemble processed data and help with interpretation of the data for clients
  • Investigate new methods of extracting useful metrics from the data
  • Check on installations (remotely and in person as needed) and ensure all is running smoothly
  • Present data at conferences and customer meetings
  • Developing machine learning and data compression techniques to improve our product
  • Contribute and curate the test data set

Key Items of Skill and Knowledge

  • Have a good grasp of Physics
