SCATTERSPHERE
Turbine Health Monitoring with Scattersphere
Guarding Structural Integrity.
Real-Time Monopile Integrity Tracking with 100% coverage
Monitor the structural health of your offshore wind assets right from your desktop with Scattersphere.
Indeximate’s turbine health solution tracks the precise physical dynamics of your monopiles without requiring hazardous offshore deployments. Because your subsea array cables travel directly up into the turbine foundations, our system leverages the existing fiber infrastructure to continuously and accurately measure monopile oscillation in real time.
Our advanced platform monitors structural resonance, ensuring that the monopile’s natural vibration frequencies approach resonance out of alignment with the rotational frequencies of the turbine blades. By tracking these subtle movements from afar which are affected by mechanical damage, fatigue or scour, we eliminate the need for manual, in-person inspection transits, turning your subsea cable network into a continuous, remote early-warning system.
Conventionally monitoring is attached to 10% of turbine assets and a SCADA model used to predict behaviour of the remaining 90% – instead, Indeximate converts fibres that exist in your cables to highly reactive sensors
- Turn your cable data into structural intelligence
- Detect foundational degradation before it leads to failure
- Years-long history of curated structural metadata
- Continuous real-time monopile oscillation tracking
- Monitor asset resonance remotely from your office
- Forensic fatigue and structural analysis capabilities
What will the Scattersphere do for me?
Is your turbine foundation maintaining its critically important design resonance?
The Scattersphere analyses acoustic and strain variations traveling through the cable as it ascends the monopile. By tracking these precise physical vibrations, we calculate the exact structural oscillation frequencies of each foundation.
We track:
- Real-time monopile oscillation frequencies (natural and second harmonic), blade frequencies and rotor frequencies
- Deviations from safe design resonance ranges
- Slow drifts in frequencies over time (we curate all the data)
- Dynamic feedback relative to active blade rotation speed
- Structural fatigue markers across the entire wind farm array
Accessing Cable Intelligence
Step 1
Using a fibre that exists in your cable, we create a highly accurate, reactive sensor.
Step 2
Connect passive sensor electronics to single fibre at the substation.
Step 3
Collect terabytes of environmental, acoustic & structural strain data.
Step 4
Compress & translate that into a simple, live structural risk view.

User interaction
Constant monitoring of monopile oscillations and scour formation along your network provides massive maintenance and safety benefits, letting you track structural fatigue across your entire fleet
simultaneously.
Currently, operators must routinely coordinate costly offshore expeditions to manually measure the vibration of individual monopiles but generally only instrument 10% of the fleet
and rely on modelling outputs. What if Indeximate could monitor all of the fleet 100% of the time?
You already have the sensor in place and Scattersphere changes the paradigm entirely: we gather high-fidelity Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) data straight from the safety of the onshore or offshore substation, scanning every connected asset 24/7. This is performed in parallel with other DAS-based processes. A simple GUI pinpoints key locations where structural frequencies are deviating from safe parameters.
| Feature | Traditional Accelerometers | Indeximate DAS-SHM |
|---|---|---|
| Asset Coverage | Usually a subset of assets | 100% (Fleet-wide) |
| Hardware | Turbine-mounted sensors | Zero new offshore equipment |
| Installation | High-cost vessel deployment | Utilises existing subsea cables |
| Data Quality | Extrapolated/Model-based | Direct, high-precision measurement |
| Reliability | Weather-constrained | Weather-resistant streaming |
Real-Time Alerts & Precision Frequency Tracking
Over time, environmental wear and structural fatigue alters a foundation’s natural frequency. Our specialised algorithms are engineered to track long-term trends, flagging gradual changes in a monopile’s frequency of oscillation.
As these frequencies degrade toward a dangerous threshold that risks matching the rotation of the blades (mechanical resonance), Scattersphere automatically alerts the asset owners.
By analysing the drift in frequency over time, Indeximate predicts when maintenance will be required for all of your assets. This proactive, real-time visibility gives you an extra layer of
structural security to protect your multi-million dollar investments.
From the natural frequency measurements, Turbine 2 has 9 months until the stability of the monopile is severely at risk.
Dedicated Metrics
Focus on critical engineering thresholds
Our focused and precise monitoring allows you to see the exact health metrics for each individual turbine foundation separately. By presenting statistics and trends for each asset layout
independently, the platform enables a quantitative comparison across the entire wind farm.
Instead of waiting for a scheduled manual audit, you get an at-glance understanding of trouble spots, allowing you to prioritise maintenance specifically for the foundations showing the highest rates of frequency drift.
